A Sacred Journey Midwifery Services is located in Cypress, Texas providing care for women and families during the most precious time in their lives. A Sacred Journey Midwifery Services is owned and operated by Shannon Stellhorn, CPM LM. Shannon Stellhorn is the daughter of the King, wife to a wonderful man, and the blessed mom of three boys, and her rainbow baby girl born May 2018. (Read about her birth journey here.) Her first birth experience solidified her calling into birth work.

me-and-CShe pursued her doula certification with Childbirth International in 2008. She has attended over 400 births, as well as had midwife attended deliveries herself. She was a housemother in a maternity home where she got a lot of experience working with pregnant teenagers throughout their pregnancies and labor and delivery. In December of 2009, she took hypno-birthing classes and used some of the techniques during her last birth. She began the process to become a midwife in 2010 and apprenticed at a birth center in the area. She opened her home birth practice in March 2012 and has been blessed to serve over 250 couples in that time.

Amy Embrey, Staff Midwife

Amorette (Amy) Embrey is the newest addition to A Scared Journey Midwifery Service. She is the grateful mother of three wonderful children. Her passion has always been in healthcare and after her third child’s birth (You can read about it here), she realized her calling was in midwifery care.

Amy immediately started looking into midwifery training while she was still in her postpartum period. She talked with Shannon, her midwife throughout her last pregnancy, and decided that The Association of Texas Midwifery was the right school to attend. She became a certified doula through Shannon’s doula program in January 2016 and was active in midwifery school in June 2016. In May 2017, Amy began her apprenticeship with Shannon.

Since the calling to become a midwife, Amy has had the privilege of helping many women through their birth journeys. She has served multiple woman as a doula. As a midwifery apprentice, she has attended over 60 births. Of the births attended, 27 births were primary care clients.

Amy has a passion for all things birth. She is engaged throughout the pregnancy and active during labor and delivery. You can find her during the postpartum period talking to the new babies and telling them what a good job they are doing during their assessment.

Amy is ecstatic to be a part of the team at A Sacred Journey Midwifery Service. She cannot wait to be a part of your next pregnancy journey.
